International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum of Boao Forum for Asia 2025 Hong Kong Conference Convened Promotion in Macau

International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum of Boao Forum for Asia 2025 Hong Kong Conference (ISTIF) will be held on June 6-7 in Hong Kong, China. The conference will focus on a number of hot topics for discussion under the theme of “Transitioning Towards the Future: Powered by Science and Technology Innovation”, aiming at actively promoting international exchanges, dialogues and cooperation in the field of science and innovation. On the morning of April 25, the Macau Promotion for ISTIF was successfully held at the Macau Science Center. The event introduced the upcoming international science and technology to a broad audience across Macau.


Distinguished attendees included Mr. Lao Ngai Leong, Deputy to the National People’’s Congress from Macau; Mr. Chen Zi Jian, Deputy Director of the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau(SAFP); and Ms. Wong Yee Lam, Executive Director of Board of Director of the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute(IPIM). Representatives from the Macau Customs Service (SD), The Economic and Technological Development Bureau(DSEDT) , Macao Government Tourism Office(DST), the Personal Data Protection Bureau(DSPDP), Education and Youth Development Bureau(DSEDJ), Science and Technology Development Fund(FDCT) , Municipal Affairs Bureau(IAM), and Policy Research and Regional Development Bureau (DSEPDR) were also present. The event attracted a wide range of participants from enterprises, academia, associations, youth groups, and media, including the University of Macau, Zhuhai Daxun Digital Technology Co., Ltd., Fnetlink century Information Technology Co. Ltd., Enjoytown Cloud (Macau) Technology Service Co., Ltd., Crosstech Innovation Group,Ltd., Mega Tecnologia Informatica Lda., Tomorrow Technology Co., Ltd., Nam Kwong Petroleum and Chemicals Co., Ltd., Industrial Association Of Macau, IEEE Macau AP/MTT Joint Chapter, the General Union of Residents Associations of Macau, the Macau Federation of Trade Unions, and the General Association of Chinese Students of Macao.




Mr. Leong Vai Tac, Executive Chairman, the Presidium of International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum (ISTIF) of Boao Forum for Asia, emphasized the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area’s rapid emergence as a global hub for technological innovation. He highlighted the synergistic advantages of Hong Kong’s international innovation resources, Macau’s strategic position as a platform for China-Portuguese-speaking countries cooperation, and the Pearl River Delta’s mature industrial base, jointly forming a "research–commercialization–application–market" innovation cycle that strongly supports the cross-border transformation of scientific achievements. Leong underscored the importance of international collaboration and rule-setting at this critical stage of technological advancement and called on Asia to champion inclusive innovation and sustainable development. He encouraged Macau’s enterprises, universities, and research institutions to actively participate in the main conference in Hong Kong and contribute to the region’s integrated innovation efforts.



Mr. Li Guangtao, Managing Director of YI WU International Exhibition Co., Ltd., the Executive Unit of ISTIF, provided a comprehensive overview of the forum’s historical significance, the core themes and agenda of the Hong Kong Conference, participation mechanisms, collaboration opportunities, and the event’s role in enhancing regional innovation connectivity and promoting global dialogue on science and technology governance.



Speaking at the event, Ms. Wong Yee Lam noted that since its establishment five years ago, the International Science, Technology and Innovation Forum of Boao Forum for Asia has become a vital platform for global science and technology collaboration. She stressed that the forum’s focus on cutting-edge innovation aligns closely with the Macao SAR Government’s policy priorities. Wong highlighted the recent emergence of intelligent technologies such as bionic robots, robotic dogs, and unmanned vessels at exhibitions in Macau, which have significantly driven the integration of intelligent technologies into industries. To further accelerate innovation resource flows, she outlined plans for Macau to adopt a "One Exhibition, Two Locations" model across Greater Bay Area cities, leverage the " Macao Convention Ambassador " program to attract premier international sci-tech exhibitions, promote digitalization and green transformation in the MICE industry, and enhance Macau’s innovation capabilities and international standing.



The event concluded with lively discussions and exchanges among participants from Macau and the Greater Bay Area, demonstrating strong confidence and determination in advancing regional collaborative innovation. Participants expressed hope to explore science and technology cooperation and investment opportunities in fields such as artificial intelligence and green energy at the upcoming ISTIF Hong Kong Conference.
